The opportunity has arisen for enthusiastic and motivated Band 5 Staff Nurses to join the surgical team on ward 21 at Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Ward 21 is an acute surgical ward taking admissions directly from theatre, SAU  and ICU, it functions as a Progressive Care Unit closely monitoring patients who have undergone major surgery. The ward provides care to patients form a range of  specialties including colorectal and upper GI surgery.

Applicants do not need previous experience but do need to show an interest in these areas of practice and a commitment to the service in delivering quality compassionate and individual care to patients. An enhanced recovery pathway is in place and being evaluated ensuring that evidence based nursing is delivered to all patients.

A structured preceptorship period of training and development will be provided with the support of a preceptor.

The post holder will be responsible for assessment of care needs, the implementation and evaluation of care of surgical patients.
This will include working closely with the multidisciplinary team involved in care of the patients.
